Well, the people have certainly spoken, and I guess it was a case of ‘if you don’t want a silly answer, don’t ask a silly question’!
A substantial 70% of respondents to our latest poll, “Are you looking forward to Summer?” replied in the affirmative, leading us to conclude that it’s probably a fair reflection on the current mood amongst our readers.
In Wellington recently, it’s been anything but summery, with wild winds, rain and icy cold temperatures over the last few weeks – perhaps that skewed the vote – but in any case, indications are that it will be a long, hot summer when it does arrive.
While no firm prediction for summer is in place WeatherWatch.co.nz believes it will be another drier than average summer for some regions. A drier weather pattern has recently moved in to the upper North Island.
Watch this space tomorrow for our next poll (hint: it will be about the sun!) and let us know what you made of our results in the comments below

“But there has been NO icy cold temperatures.” There has been in Kapiti, including frost and a brrr SW where I live. T-storm was damned cold too.
