POLL RESULTS: Half of NZ drought zones still need rain

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The last week has seen a noticeable change in our weather – with snow(!) in parts of both islands – something of a rarity in April – following the wettest start to a month we’ve seen this year.

Some parts of the country have welcomed the change with open arms, given the dry condition of many farming regions – and some others have missed out.

We wanted to know how many of our readers live in areas affected by drought, and whether they’ve seen any decent rain in the past few weeks.

The results were interesting – with just under half of those who voted saying that they’ve had some good recent rainfall – while the other 50-odd percent were split between ‘not enough’ and ‘hardly any at all’ – not a good sign, especially with a likely El Niño on the way in the middle of the year

Keep an eye out for this week’s new poll, coming tomorrow morning!
