POLL RESULTS: Frosty winter for 90% of Kiwis

> From the WeatherWatch archives

We’ve had all our suspicions about winter so far confirmed by our readers at Weatherwatch – with 90% of voters in our latest poll confirming – it’s been a frosty winter.

Last week we asked “Have you had a frost?” in our poll, and the overwhelming response was “yes” – with 9 out of 10 people replying in the positive.

Several commenters were from the far north – and told us they’ve had an icy month of July, with one writing:

“In Kerikeri we have had 2 frosts so far 18th July only 2 degrees here and 18th July 3 degrees.”

While another, from Whangerei, said:

“We had one or two very slight frosts around our patch in Whangrei early in the winter when the air was dry and crisp, but since beginning of July and all the rainy stuff there have been none.”

August is shaping up to be a warmer month overall – with Philip Duncan’s latest outlook picking Spring to be well and truly established, in spite of a couple of possible cold snaps.

Watch this space for our next poll, coming tomorrow morning!
