Spring 2018 is proving to be drier than average and warmer than average in many parts of the country and our recent poll shows that it’s surprised Kiwis with almost one third who took part in our recent poll saying they have been sunburnt so far this spring.
A lot of people may not be aware that in New Zealand you can get sunburnt even in mid-winter on a sunny day so it’s not surprising that burn times are already shorter now that we’re just over a month away from summer.
With more warmer than average weather forecast to be on the way WeatherWatch.co.nz says it will encourage more of us to be outside much more often and to wear fewer items of clothing, making New Zealanders more exposed to skin damage and UV radiation from the sun.
