POLL RESULTS: 75% of the country in ‘desperate need’ of rain

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Despite the appearance of a large low pressure system and a couple of rainmakers flirting around the country, we haven’t yet had the sustained rainfall that is needed to drag farmers out of drought conditions.

Because of this, and the official declaration of drought earlier this month, we wanted to know how many of our readers were desperate for rain – and how many were doing OK by comparison – and that was the subject of our latest poll.

The response was clear – three quarters of respondents said they needed rain desperately, while just over 20% said they were ok – leaving just 4 percent unsure of their situation.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks we can ask a poll question about the change in the weather – we’ll have our fingers crossed!
