Today is the 19th and it’s way past midday but no update. If it’s going to impact Northland surely warnings should be going out NOW so people can take precautions?

Hi there – no forecaster puts out warnings several days in advance – only a ‘heads up’ as we’ve been doing for 9 days now.  Little news today because the storm is back out over open waters so no weather stations, no eyewitness reports, no news apart from technical information about the storm structure – which is changing by the hour as it weakens.

We’re providing both news and video content daily until Friday then step up our coverage over the weekend news and maps-wise.

Please note MetService are funded to the tune of 18million dollars by taxpayers to issue official warnings.  We receive no funding so our updates are paid for by ourselves – so we’ve chosen to limit updates while they are less important and focus back on NZ for a couple days before back to Evan again across the weekend as it begins to move in.

Cheers

Your coverage is not as good as 28 storms .com, met vue showed a direct hit on us 8 days ago, met service is useless, ecmf showed this in our quadrant 13 days ago!!!

We are gunna get a shite load of rain and big storm surge, preparations need to be made?? Looking forward to the surf myself …. Cheers
