The generally cloudy and cooler summer that is affecting New Zealand may not be remembered for anything special – but it is possible some of you have had to use a little more electricity, gas and wood to keep yourselves warm.
WeatherWatch.co.nz’s Facebook page has had frequent comments over the past nine weeks regarding fires being lit, heat pumps being switched on and gas bottles shifting from the outside BBQ to the indoor heater.
So we wanted to ask all of our readers – have you had to use home heating to stay warm at any stage this summer?

Normally in February I’d be sleeping with windows open, fans on & no blankets.
Well tonight I’m feeling like I need an extra blanket.
We’ve had no hot sticky nights yet!!

My home heating is letting my cat’s sleep on my bed. Number of cat’ s depend on how cold my feet are and how cold their feet are!
When it’s really cold they all try and sneak onto my bed for the night.
Highly scientific: One cat = cold, Two cat’s = very cold, Three cat’s = freezing. No cat’s= it’s a heatwave.
