PHOTOS: Queenstown starts to flood

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Queenstown is bracing itself for a slow flood today as Lake Wakatipu slowly rises and spreads into the lower CBD.

Strong winds today are expected to create waves which could cause more complications.

WeatherWatch.co.nz reader Alison Metherell snapped these pictures yesterday in the pouring rain.

The lake is rising at 1cm an hour and is expected to continue to rise all day.
