Gales with gusts over 100km/h are expected for much of today in Auckland making it harder to battle the fire at Sky City.

The fire has prompted management at Bauer Media / TWR Media in central Auckland to advise staff not to come in today – and this is where our daily weather videos are produced. We apologise but we will not have a video today due to the Sky City fire.

However our Creative Producer, Justin Bennett, has been out with his camera for us this morning with these photos just in. Winds are currently hovering around gale force at times with gusts to 100km/h in exposed areas.
