Photo – “The Gathering Storm” Bay of Plenty skies fire up!

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Late day thunderstorms and cloud build ups have been pushing into parts of the central North Island and Bay of Plenty over the past day or so.

As we head into the weekend more cloud build ups are expected across the North Island and even the upper South Island thanks to warm afternoons and a humid wind flow.

This fantastic photo was sent in to us Thursday evening via Twitter (follow us on Twitter: @WeatherWatchNZ) by Chris Taylor (@christaylornzl) – the view from Papamoa, just down the road from Mount Maunganui.

Wow, Chris – that is a very captivating photo!

Dramatic and impending with different layers and colours of clouds . . . nice!
