The Perth metropolitan area has recorded its coldest night of the year.Some residents have woken to ice on their windscreens this morning.
The duty forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology, Adam Conroy, says the temperature dropped to 0.1 degrees just after 7:00 this morning.
“Yeah, the temperature outside dropped to almost freezing overnight so it has been the coldest night so far this year.”It makes it the second coldest night on the record. The coldest was a very cold – 0.7 which we experienced on the 17th of June 2006.”
Meanwhile, Perth is on track to record its second driest June.The city has recorded 52 millimetres of rain so far this month, 100 millimetres less than June last year.The Weather Bureau is forecasting no rain for the rest of the month.
Perth’s dam levels are at 35 per cent capacity, five per cent lower than March this year.
