Parts of Auckland and also Whangarei are leading the charge around the country this afternoon on 24 degrees. Hamilton is just a point behind on 23 but further south it certainly is cooler.
Inverargill is reporting just 14 degrees with Kaikoura and Gore currently on 15.
Winds aren’t particularly strong over the nation but Castlepoint and Cape Reinga have southerlies gusting between 50 and 60 kph.
To the main centres now…
Auckland 24
Hamilton 23
Wellington 17
Christchurch 18
Dunedin 18
Northern and western areas are having most of the warmth this afternoon, as southerly and easterly quarter winds are cooling eastern and southern coastlines.

Officially, the high for Christchurch was 21 degrees at the airport. That story was written at 2.30 and the temperature at that time was 18.4. Temperatures vary all over the city and it’s good to have your contribution too.
Thanks
