NZ is at the start of that foggy time of year!

> From the WeatherWatch archives

NZ’s only Fog Forecaster at www.RuralWeather.co.nz is starting to show more and more days with fog now that we’re truly into Autumn.

Increasingly cooler and longer nights coupled with warm afternoons and warm sea surface temperatures make for the perfect recipe for fog and overnight cloud to form.

With more showers and some rain this weekend, and in the next couple weeks, this will only add to the moisture levels in the ground and will contribute further to foggy areas in the coming weeks and months.

A cool night, calm conditions and high pressure systems are perfect for making cloud, especially once the centre of a high is right over NZ or just slightly to the east (the slightly more east focus brings in more moisture/humidity in the air and this helps create further morning cloud and fog patches.

Check the Fog Forecaster in your area to see what fog risks you may have coming up in the next 10 days – and remember, you can use the Fog Forecaster to help better prepare your travel plans, especially if you have flexible dates for travelling or flying domestically.
