Another warm to hot day covered much of the country and temperatures were certainly more than respectful.
Everywhere in the country was in the low twenties and higher as the ridge of high pressure hung in there and saw temperatures remain toasty
Hanmer Springs, certainly not for the first time this summer, grabbed the hottest spot with 34 degrees.
To the southeast of the town, Ashburton also cooked with 31 degrees.

This evening as temperatures slowly cool down conditions overhead are expected to remain mostly dry however pockets of isolated showers could be on the cards this evening.
Parts of Westland and Fiordland will see some decent downpours overnight as a frontal band approaches.

Warmest overnight – Upper parts of the North Island and inland areas of the Mainland
Windiest – Deep south & Stewart Island
