Well the first week of winter has come and gone – without too much incident in either island.
We’ve had some people writing in telling us it’s been more of the same at their place – with mainly settled, sunny weather in most parts of the country.
So, in our latest poll, we’re asking our readers to rate the first week of winter – which you can do, by clicking here to our polls page.
Also, let us know where you are in our comments, and feel free to elaborate – we’ll publish the results next weekend!

Hi Weather Watch, what are the patterns looking like for June? I know this time last year we were getting hit by snowfalls and the big one on June 20th, is this winter looking warmer than usual? Thanks

Hi there – we think this winter will be warmer than normal but we can’t see August and July is still a bit murky (as far as long range data is concerned). We believe that, generally, June will be warmer than average – may well be a record breaker for some regions. Some snow in the forecast for the ski fields, but not much for low levels at the moment.

It is been FAR WARMER than normal for us. Normally bitterly cold now, really frigid stuff. The SE is abnormally mild, hasn’t been like this in literally years. Still all the same, it is a big worry … Southern Ocean …. too warm. SW is the colder one this year.
