Here at Weatherwatch, we’ve been receiving mixed correspondence from our readers about the changing state of foliage around the country.
Different parts of New Zealand go into and out of the seasons at different times, and the appearance of deciduous trees changes from region to region.
Some branches are already bare, while others – mainly in the North – remain covered in yellow or brown leaves.
So what is the case in your part of the world? How are the seasons looking as we head into winter in just a couple of weeks?
Let us know in the poll below, and tell us where you are in the comments!

autumn for me is called the vanishing season… I remember when i first came to New Zealand all the leaves would fall off 8 years ago… Now not even one leaf form my eye has fallen off any of my trees.

Golly wait and see what August brings… I love the shortest day because we start the upside then and the ist day of spring has always been 1st Sept… dont think we will see much of Winter really here in the lower north– we get different weather from Palmy and thats only 15 mins away… Its cool today not cold…see what tomorrow will bring..

Hi WW. Here at Waipu South we are having a slow as you go autumn. Temperatures still cause a sweat when working. Only 34 mils rain this month and 291 mils YTD. Flame trees in the area only a quarter way through the “change”.
Tuis are pouncing on the flowers as soon as they open. Hopefully when winter does show up here we don’t get a touch of the type of weather the south is experiencing.
Does any of your forecast modelling show a tougher than usual winter ahead?
Cheers Steve
