WeatherWatch.co.nz has released a new Lightning Tracker, one that is viewable on more devices than before.
The new lightning tracker, which is operated by Lightningmaps.org with data from Blitzortoung.org, is better for most New Zealanders because it no longer uses a Java applet – Java, in geek talk, is older, unsupported web technology requiring a separate browser plug-in to work correctly.
The new lightning tracker grabs the latest image so it can be viewed on any device, whether that be a computer or a tablet – without the hassle of installing a browser plug-in.
In short – it means when a thunderstorm hits you’ll want to click here as soon as possible to view! www.weatherwatch.co.nz/lightning
And yes App users – this means we’ll finally be bringing it to you. In the meantime, you’ll need to use this link: http://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/lightning – but we’ll bring it to the app as soon as we can, in our next set up of app updates.
If you preferred the old tracker – we still have a link to that too on our lightning tracker page.
