MOST SOUTHERN CITY THE WARMEST

WeatherWatch.co.nz

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Southland isn’t usually known for being New Zealand’s hot spot but tonight Invercargill is the warmest place in the country with a balmy 16 degrees recorded at 9pm.  That’s in contrast with Whangarei on just 12 (which is the same temperature as Queenstown tonight!) and just 8 degrees in the normally ‘sub tropical’ Coromandel Peninsula.

A warm and dry northerly is the reason why Invercargill is enjoying a pleasant evening weather-wise.

Make the most of it though – a southerly change late on Wednesday will see Thursday’s high lucky to make it above 9 degrees.
