More thundery showers

> From the WeatherWatch archives

More torrential showers and isolated thunderstorms are moving in to western parts of the North Island today.

From Taranaki right up to Northland the Lightning Tracker is picking up thunderstorms near the coast, although they are mostly expected to come ashore between southern parts of Northland and Waikato.

Auckland will see a sunny morning turn into a showery afternoon as the wave of heavy showers rolls through starting around lunchtime.

The torrential downpours will be sudden and isolated and may make driving extremely difficult.  On Saturday similar downpours reportedly brought the southern motorway to a crawl.

Conditions are likely to remain showery for the rest of the day with isolated thunderstorms.
