More severe warnings across the country

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There are more severe weather warnings for New Zealand today although less regions are now being involved as our stormy weather very slowly starts to ease.

Another burst of severe gales is expected across central and eastern New Zealand affecting Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Wellington, Marlborough and Canterbury says the government forecaster MetService.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says while it’s going to be very windy these regions stand up to severe gales far better than other places like Auckland.

This is mainly because these areas frequently get strong winds from the westerly quarter.

The main risk will probably be to motorists and for those working outdoors says WeatherWatch.co.nz.

The strong winds may affect some flights in and out of Wellington and Blenheim on the smaller planes.

On the West Coast it’s heavy rain that could be a problem.  Rain warnings have been issued for the western coastline.
