Just when it looked like it was easing, yet another band of widespread thunderstorms is moving into the Auckland region, prompting the Radio Network’s Weather Watch Centre to issue a Thunderstorm Warning for the remainder of Monday.  “A line of thunderstorms is being fed right into Auckland and at this stage it doesn’t look like it will ease any time soon” warns Head Weather Analyst Philip Duncan.

“There could be some spectacular lightning flashes across the upper North Island tonight”.

Mr Duncan warns people should stay indoors, particular if they live in open space areas.  “The risk of being hit by lightning is never that high, but in conditions like this it is definitely a possibility”.

Duncan also warns severe downpours could lead to flash flooding making driving harzardous tonight.
