A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand on Monday with a front clearing eastern regions in the morning and moving eastwards.
For the upper North Island expect a mix of sun and cloud, expect a shower or two for western regions at times also then spreading elsewhere during the afternoon. Winds from the northwest. Afternoon temperatures in the 15 to 17 degree range.
For the western North Island Taranaki southwards, expect showers about Taranaki for much of the day. Elsewhere morning showers clear then expect some sun, during the afternoon however a few showers drift back in. Winds from the northwest with high’s in the low to mid teens. Along the east coast early morning rain clears then becoming mostly sunny by midday with northwesterly winds, a warm afternoon with temperatures getting into the high teens.
For the West Coast of the South Island expect showers, turning to rain later in the afternoon or evening as northeasterly winds change westerly. Rain may be heavy. The east coast has some morning rain then becoming mostly sunny during the afternoon with north to northwesterly winds developing. Afternoon high’s in the east getting into the mid teens, perhaps up towards 17 degrees in some isolated spots. The West Coast has high’s in the 12 to 14 degree range.
