Here’s what is making the weather headlines today…..
SHOWERS IN THE WEST, DRY IN THE EAST
A southwesterly airflow lies over the country today, this brings showers to western regions meanwhile in the east it is mainly dry and warmer. There is a few showers north of Napier this morning though but these will clear as a southerly airflow dies away.
Coastal Southland does have a few showers then some rain moves in this afternoon, easing evening.
SHOWERS RETURN IN THE EAST ON TUESDAY
Southerlies and cold upper air brings showers back into eastern regions on Tuesday, north of about the Waitaki River all the way up through to Gisborne. One or two spots may even see some instability like the Mackenzie Country, the Richmond Ranges in Marlborough and perhaps Wairarapa.
Overnight showers will start to clear from the south for the east of the South Island but north of Napier rain may become heavy for a time.
TEMPERATURES
Temperatures in the east and for Bay Of Plenty are warmest today getting into the late teens. Western regions are cooler, the West Coast the coolest of the lot.
Tuesday sees cool temperatures return to the east although Napier northwards should warm up before southerlies move in during the afternoon.
Wednesday is warmest for the east of the South Island and about the upper North Island in the mid to late teens.
Lets skip to Friday when temperatures boost up into the early twenties for eastern regions of both Islands.
