We have no weather video today, we’re back again on Tuesday. Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….
HEAVY RAIN IN THE NORTHEAST – NORTH ISLAND
A low and stationary front of sorts brings heavy rain to the North Island today, especially in the northeast.
Please check out today’s watches and warnings from Metservice here.
MORNINGS FROSTS – SOUTH ISLAND
A frost is likely for the South Island this morning, and again on Tuesday morning although to a lesser extent. The lower South Island and about the Main Divide have a higher chance for frosts but if cloud further north is broken enough we could see frosts there also.
NEXT HIGH EARLY OCTOBER
Looks like our next high pressure system (or a ridge technically speaking), is going to be around the 1st of October, but it doesn’t last long with a front already lining up to the south.

When is the weather going to get better. I am really, really tired of the rain and wind. it is supposed to be spring for goodness sake.

Hi Millsy – this is exactly what spring is like! Spring isn’t summer – it’s all about winter slowly fading away and hints of summer gradually coming in. Spring is often wet and very windy and usually doesn’t show signs of calming down until sometime in November. El Nino may this year also make spring conditions carry on longer (most likely in the form of more windy westerlies).
Cheers
