Monday’s national forecast – Ridge moves in

A ridge of high pressure moves over New Zealand today bringing a period of calm for a time, showers gradually clear away especially for the North Island then this evening a new front moves onto the far south.

North Island

Cloudy areas with showers, clearing away this afternoon but a few showers may not clear in the southwest (Taranaki / Manawatu) and Wairarapa till this evening, southwesterly winds gradually ease.

South Island

Cloudy areas in the west with a few showers, southwesterlies tend to the north this afternoon, rain moves into Fiordland this evening then a little further northwards overnight. Mostly sunny in the east with some developing high cloud, northeasterlies die away in the evening, a few spots of rain or showers about Southland / Otago this evening.
