Conditions are mainly settled today for New Zealand thanks to high pressure however we do have a few fronts heading in from the Tasman Sea which brings showers to the West Coast tonight.

North Island

Plenty of low cloud or fog this morning then afternoon sun should break through, about eastern Bay Of Plenty, East Cape and New Plymouth overnight a few light showers move in. Winds are light, northerlies pick up a touch through Cook Strait.

South Island

Areas of low cloud or fog possible to start, mostly sunny otherwise. Low cloud may be more persistent in the east and not breaking till later in the day. Cloud also thickens about South Westland from afternoon then pushes into Southland and Otago late afternoon or evening. Late afternoon showers move into Fiordland, spreading north along the coast overnight, Southland and perhaps Otago may get a few spits of rain in the evening and overnight also. Winds mostly tending onshore, northeasterlies freshen up about coastal Fiordland later in the day.
