Monday’s national forecast – Mainly settled but a few showers

High pressure brings mainly settled weather across New Zealand today but there are also a few weak features / trough lines that lead to a few showers for some regions.

North Island

Partly cloudy skies for most, Auckland northwards has a few showers especially in the east. In the west south of Waikato through to Wellington expect a few showers, more so this afternoon then clearing away this evening. East to northeasterly winds for most, Taranaki through to Wellington can expect north to northwesterly winds.

South Island

Nelson and Marlborough have a mainly sunny day. The West Coast has morning cloud break to sunny spells this afternoon, Fiordland has a few showers then some may spread northwards this evening. Morning cloud in the east breaks to mostly sunny weather, this evening some cloud develops about South Canterbury bringing the risk of a late shower, winds are mostly light. Mostly sunny for Southland and Otago, morning cloud for North Otago breaks away. During the afternoon northwesterlies tend a little more westerly with some cloud moving in, in the evening there could be a few coastal showers.
