A large high to the east directs an east to northeasterly airflow over the country today.

North Island

Periods of cloud for Northland across to East Cape and down into Hawkes Bay with occasional showers, winds from the east or northeast, perhaps a bit fresh at times. Further south and in the west conditions are mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud.

South Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, mid level cloud starts thickening up for the West Coast this evening, especially South Westland then showers move in overnight. Winds from the north or northeast.
