Monday’s national forecast – Front weakens over NZ

A front pushing in from the west weakens as it moves over the country today, the airflow is generally from the north or northeast.


North Island

Showers or perhaps a few pockets of rain this morning for the western / upper North Island, easing this afternoon with dry areas growing. Skies are mostly cloudy but some sun breaks through at times especially for Northland. Sun in the east, cloud thickening a little this afternoon with a few spots of rain possible. North to northeasterly winds.

South Island

Some rain for Nelson (possibly heavy), Marlborough and perhaps a few spots on the West Coast north of Haast then easing back from this afternoon. Fiordland and parts of South Westland may have a few clearing showers this morning then some sun. The east coast has a mainly sunny day, some cloud Banks Peninsula northwards this morning clears, light northeasterlies, temperatures in the mid teens.
