Monday’s national forecast – Front in the south

A southwesterly airflow lies over the country today with a few frontal features moving through bringing showers here and there. Rain in the south this evening with a front.

North Island

Partly cloudy skies for most with occasional showers north of about Taranaki in the west. Bay Of Plenty should have a mainly sunny day. Along the east coast there may be a coastal shower or two. Winds from the southwest, tending southerly for Wellington up through to southern Taranaki.

South Island

A mix of sun and cloud for most although Nelson should stay sunny all day, Marlborough gets some evening cloud. Canterbury sees cloud thicken up in the morning as a weak front moves through, cloud starts to break up from afternoon. Expect showers for South Westland and Southland. In the evening rain moves into Southland then coastal Otago with a southwest change, a few showers reach into Central Otago.
