> From the WeatherWatch archives

Little bit of a mixed bag today around New Zealand with showers for some but dry for others, showers more likely this afternoon thanks to some instability and a few frontal features moving into the upper North Island.

North Island

Dry this morning for the upper North Island then showers move in this afternoon from the northwest, there may be some instability this afternoon for parts of Waikato and Bay Of Plenty leading to an isolated heavy fall and maybe a thunderstorm. Rain moves into Northland this afternoon then spreading into Great Barrier Island and Coromandel this evening. Winds from the northwest. Dry in the east with partly cloudy skies, chance of a spit or shower this evening. Taranaki through to Wellington has partly cloudy skies also, a few showers or spits about then clearing this evening.

South Island

A mix of sun and cloud for most regions, dry this morning for most although the West Coast may have a light shower or two. This afternoon isolated showers develop about inland areas especially in the east, one or two showers may be heavy then easing this evening. Rain overnight for Fiordland.
