A front crosses over the North Island today meanwhile expect a light northwesterly airflow further south.

North Island

Showers for western regions today, a few isolated heavy falls / thunderstorms possible this afternoon north of Taranaki. The east coast is mainly dry but a few spits could spread from the west at times.

South Island

Cloudy areas in the west with a few showers, a few showers about Southland and Otago too , more so this afternoon. Canterbury is mostly sunny with winds tending southerly there this afternoon, cloud develops this evening. Nelson and Marlborough have morning rain then clearing to become mostly sunny.
