A low pressure system moves to sit just off the West Coast of the South Island today, expect rain for many South Island areas although morning rain about Invercargill clears. Dry for the North Island with showers in the west later this evening.
Auckland & Northland
Sunny with some high cloud, north to northwest breezes. Cloud thickens in the evening then overnight the odd shower moves in.
High: 24-25
Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Mostly sunny with light winds tending northwest in the afternoon, cloud thickens later in the evening and some
drizzle is possible overnight.
Highs: 22-16
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon northeasterly breezes along the coast. Some high cloud during the day also, thickening in the evening.
Highs: 23-26
Western North Island
Sunny areas with some high cloud, thickening after midday. Northerly winds tend westerly in the afternoon south of Taranaki. The odd shower develops about Kapiti and northern Taranaki later in the evening then some rain moves in overnight for most.

Wellington
High cloud with northerly winds, cloud thickens and lowers later in the afternoon then rain develops later in the evening.
High: 20
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly cloudy with northerly breezes, showers about Nelson from afternoon then rain develops in the evening for both regions. Nelson may see a heavy fall or two from later in the evening.
Highs: 21-23
Canterbury
Rain about South and Mid Canterbury spreads into North Canterbury during the afternoon, south to southeasterly breezes.
High: 17
West Coast
Rain with north to northeast breezes, rain eases overnight.
Highs: 19-20
Coastal Otago
Early rain eases to the odd drizzle patch, cool southerlies.
Highs: 11-12
Central Otago
Morning rain eases to the odd scattered shower then clearing in the evening, southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 15-16
Southland
Morning rain clears however remaining mostly cloudy, southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 12
