Southerlies freshen over the North Island today, the odd shower pushes into the east coast later in the afternoon and late afternoon a few heavy showers may develop about western Bay Of Plenty. For the South Island the weather turns out good in the afternoon for most of the West Coast, in the east it’s a bit cooler with southerlies and cloud.

Auckland & Northland
Mostly cloudy with breezy southwesterlies, winds ease later in the evening and tend southeast. During the day conditions will be fairly dry however there is the chance of a brief light shower at times.
Highs: 20-22

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Mostly sunny with light winds, late afternoon and evening isolated showers develop about eastern Waikato / western Bay Of Plenty. Showers may be heavy with a chance of thunderstorms then clearing later on.
Highs: 23-26

Central North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds, southeasterlies develop in the afternoon with some cloud and the chance of a shower any of which clear evening.
High: 23

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds at first, southwesterlies freshen mid morning about Wairarapa then afternoon for Hawkes Bay / Gisborne with increasing cloud and the odd shower.
Highs: 19-23

Western North Island
Any early showers clear then southerlies develop around midday with sunny spells.
Highs: 20-21

Wellington
Becoming cloudy early this morning with brisk southerly winds, chance of a morning shower then mainly dry.
Highs: 15-16

Nelson
Sunny spells with light winds and afternoon northeasterlies, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon and evening mainly inland.
Highs: 17-20

Marlborough
Fairly cloudy with breezy south to southeasterly winds, some drizzle about southern parts of Marlborough.
High: 16

Canterbury
Cloudy with the odd drizzle patch, especially about the foothills then clearing in the evening. Southerly breezes.
Highs: 14-15

West Coast
The odd early light shower then clearing to a mostly sunny day, light southerlies. About Buller late afternoon and evening a few isolated showers develop then clear at night.
Highs: 19-22

Coastal Otago
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, southwesterly breezes ease later in the evening.
Highs: 15-16

Central Otago
Morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny afternoon, southerly breezes die out overnight.
High: 19

Southland
Chance of an early shower then expect sunny and cloudy spells with WSW winds. Cloud clears in the evening as winds ease.
High: 13
