A front pushes over New Zealand this morning coming in from the west then both the North and South Islands can expect a breezy westerly airflow for the rest of the day.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning rain, possibly heavy with thunderstorms then easing around midday to showers as northwesterly winds change gusty westerly. Some sun may break through at times afternoon onwards, becoming mainly dry by evening although the odd shower may still move through now and then. The Bay Of Plenty becomes mainly dry this afternoon with sunny areas likely.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Rain this morning, possibly heavy with thunderstorms then easing to showers by midday as northwesterly winds tend gusty westerly.
Highs: 17-20
Eastern North Island
Some rain this morning then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon as northeasterly winds tend west to northwest.
Highs: 21-24
Wellington
Rain, possibly heavy with thunder then clearing around midday as northerly winds tend gusty northwest. Some sun may break through from afternoon.
High: 19
Marlborough & Nelson
Morning rain, possibly heavy (a chance of morning thunderstorms for Nelson) then clearing by midday. Gusty west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-21
Canterbury
Morning rain clears then mostly sunny, northerlies tend northwest by midday and become gusty about inland areas.

West Coast
Rain this morning with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms then easing to showers, some sun may break through after midday as northwest winds tend gusty westerly otherwise fairly cloudy.
Highs: 15-17
Southland & Otago
Dry at first for Southland then some rain moves in this morning, clearing around midday and sunny areas increase as northwest winds pick up. Rain moves in again later this evening or overnight. For Otago there may be a few spots of rain this morning then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon.
