A subtropical northerly airflow continues to flow onto New Zealand today, moving around a large high centred far to the east of the country in the Pacific Ocean.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Any early rain eases to the odd shower and dry spells, skies are mostly cloudy although some sun may break through at times. North to northeasterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with the chance of a shower this morning. Showers more likely this afternoon with an isolated heavy fall possible then easing this evening. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 22-25
Eastern North Island
Plenty of high cloud, showers developing this afternoon especially about the ranges then spreading towards the coast. Showers may be heavy with a risk of thunder then clearing tonight. Gisborne may not see a shower till later this evening. Light winds.

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, chance of a shower mainly this morning. North to northwesterly winds.
High: 23
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas and some high cloud, chance of a shower at times mainly about Tasman. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 24-28
Canterbury
Morning low cloud breaks to sunny areas, isolated showers develop this afternoon especially about inland South and Mid Canterbury then spreading towards the coast before clearing at night. Showers could be heavy with a risk of thunderstorms. Light southwesterly winds tend east to northeast this afternoon.

West Coast
Cloudy about South Westland with some rain, easing to showers this afternoon then clearing in the evening. Further north expect a mix of sun and cloud. Light winds.
Highs: 23-28
Southland & Otago
The odd shower, especially this afternoon (may be an isolated heavy fall about inland eastern Otago) then clearing in the evening. Light winds tend southerly this afternoon for some, afternoon easterlies about coastal Otago.
Highs: 22-27
