A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, within this flow a frontal zone over the upper North Island weakens during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers ease becoming fewer, sunny spells break through from afternoon with long dry spells. Conditions are mainly dry by evening although there is the chance of a light shower or two still hanging about. Light northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny spells, there may be a shower or two about otherwise mainly dry. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island
Morning high cloud clears away then mainly sunny, light winds.
Highs: 18-20

Wellington
Some early high cloud clears away then mainly sunny with north to northwesterly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny after some morning high cloud clears away, west to northwesterly winds. Some mid level cloud possible at times for Nelson however still mainly sunny overall.
Highs: 16-18

Canterbury
Mainly sunny with some high cloud possible, light northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

West Coast
Sunny spells, chance of a shower or two then cloud thickens in the evening. Fiordland has a higher chance of showers then rain moves in during the evening. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14

Southland & Otago
Mainly sunny with high cloud developing later in the day, light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-15
