Upper North Island

A mostly cloudy day although sunny spells may break through in the afternoon. The Bay Of Plenty has more frequent areas of sun from morning. Chance of a shower also otherwise mainly dry. Breezy west to southwesterly winds, brisk about the Bay Of Plenty.

Lower North Island

Mainly cloudy in the west, there is risk of a shower or two but still plenty of dry areas. The east coast is mainly sunny with light winds tending west to southwest in the afternoon.

South Island

Cloudy for the West Coast of the South Island, the odd shower then rain moves into South Westland midday onwards gradually pushing northwards to reach Buller in the evening. Mostly cloudy in the east with any drizzle about Canterbury clearing early this morning, a few spots of rain passing over Canterbury southwards late afternoon / evening then high cloud breaks away to let in some late sun. Northeasterlies along the east coast, winds tend northwest inland.
