A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, strong for parts of the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of cloud and the odd shower for Northland and Auckland, mostly sunny elsewhere. Brisk to strong southwest winds.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Areas of cloud and the odd shower about the Manawatu. Taranaki and the Central North Island mainly sunny. West to southwesterly winds, gusty at times.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with strong gusty southwesterly winds, however, a few showers about Wairarapa, and also a few other exposed eastern areas like Mahia Peninsula, till evening.
Highs: 12-13

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, clearing by evening. Strong Southerly winds.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas about Marlborough with southwesterly winds. A few showers about southern Marlborough on the coast clear in the evening. Nelson is mainly sunny.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

A few morning showers clear (mainly near the coast). A few afternoon sunny spells, especially inland. Sou’West winds die out by evening.
High: 11

West Coast

Sunny with southerly winds.
Highs: 11-13

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower possible, west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-11
