A ridge mostly lies over New Zealand today spreading out from an anticyclone to the east of the North Island, conditions are generally settled although there will be plenty of cloud about for some especially this morning.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and some cloud, cloud may be thicker for a time this morning before breaking away. Light winds tending northeasterly for Northland.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and some cloud with light west to northwesterly winds, cloud may be thicker first things this morning before breaking away. Taranaki sees mainly cloudy skies develop during the morning, winds light from the north.
Highs: 15-18

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some developing high cloud, light northeasterlies. About the Wairarapa winds tend northwest after midday.
Highs: 18-19

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with northerly winds.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and high cloud, northwesterlies pick up around midday about Marlborough. Nelson sees light north to northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 17-21

Canterbury

Any morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, light east to northeasterly winds. Winds may tend southerly for a time this afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with light northeasterlies, some drizzle possible about Fiordland.
Highs: 14-15

Southland & Otago

Plenty of high cloud, a few spots of rain possible mainly late afternoon. Northwesterlies inland and about Southland, light winds about coastal Otago.
Highs: 14-18
