A ridge lies over much of the country today while a front sits over the lower South Island, 

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and some cloud with the chance of a shower or two this afternoon, easterly quarter winds. Fog possible morning and night for inland areas. The Bay Of Plenty experiences mostly cloudy skies today with some drizzle this morning then clearing.
Highs: 20-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and some cloud with light west to northwesterly winds, a chance
of fog morning and night inland. Taranaki sees slightly cloudier skies during
the day. Chance of a shower or two for some during the day, mainly about
Taranaki this morning then elsewhere in the afternoon.

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with light northeasterlies.
Highs: 21-23

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with breezy northwesterlies, chance of a shower or two
otherwise dry.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, north to northwesterly winds ease this
evening.
Highs: 19-24

Canterbury

Sunny areas and some high cloud this morning with light winds,
southwesterlies pick up this afternoon bringing increasing cloud and a few light
showers to South then gradually Mid Canterbury. A few then move into North
Canterbury overnight.
High: 20

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with light northerlies, spells of rain or showers for South
Westland.
Highs: 16-17

Southland & Otago

Rain about Southland and Central Otago eases this afternoon then clearing
later on or overnight, southerly winds. Coastal Otago sees thick high cloud this
morning, the odd spot of rain possible and light winds. A few showers move in by
midday as winds change southwest.
Highs: 12-14
