A bit more active for New Zealand today although some parts still remaining fairly dry. The North Island has the chance of a shower or two mainly in the west this morning otherwise another dry day ahead, hot temperatures for some. In the South Island the West Coast sees some rain while out east a southerly change brings heavy showers to the far south, perhaps to coastal Canterbury later in the day / overnight.

Sunny areas and some cloud with light winds,
afternoon sea breezes. There could be an isolated shower about this afternoon mainly in the east.

Auckland

A few early showers clear then expect sunny areas and some cloud with west
to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 27-28

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with westerly breezes.
High: 28

Waikato

Morning cloud with the chance of a brief shower then expect sunny spells,
westerly winds.
High: 27

Central North Island

Periods of cloud and sunny spells, westerly winds.
High: 25

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with light northeasterlies right on the coast, some high
cloud. Winds tend northwest about the Wairarapa. Hot just inland away from the
coast.
Highs: 26-29

Western North Island

Cloudy areas and a few sunny spells, there could be a brief shower about at
times too otherwise mainly dry. West to northwest breezes.
Highs: 23-25

Wellington

Cloud breaks to sunny areas this afternoon, gusty northwesterly
winds.
High: 22

Nelson

Mostly sunny, some high cloud clears away this morning. Northwesterlies,
picking up a bit this afternoon.
High: 25

Marlborough

Sunny areas and some high cloud today, breezy northwesterlies gusty at
times this afternoon.
Highs: 28-29

Canterbury

Mostly sunny today with breezy northwesterly winds. Later this evening a
few isolated showers may move into South Canterbury, mainly very coastal with
the chance of a heavy fall or two. Showers could then once again in a very
coastal fashion push northwards overnight to about Banks Peninsula, chance of an
isolated heavy fall here too. These showers later in the evening / overnight
develop on a south to southwesterly wind change.

West Coast

Cloudy with showers, heavy at times with possible thunderstorms. West to
northwest winds.
Highs: 20-21

Coastal Otago

Sunny this morning, around midday winds tend southerly. Showers develop in
the afternoon possibly heavy with thunderstorms then easing later this
evening.
Highs: 19-20

Central Otago

Showers about the Southern Lakes area and west of there with westerly
winds, sunny elsewhere. In the afternoon showers spread elsewhere possibly
becoming heavy with thunderstorms especially in the east then easing in the
evening.
Highs: 17-20

Southland

Sunny areas this morning with breezy northwesterlies, showers develop this
afternoon possibly heavy with a westerly change.
Highs: 18-19
