A northerly airflow gradually increases over the South Island today, easterly winds along the east coast become gusty this afteroon perhaps even strong. The North Island sees cloudy and sunny areas, easterlies pick up there along the east coast also.

Northland
A few sunny spells this morning with light southwesterlies, cloud increases from midday then the odd light shower develops late afternoon.

Auckland

Cloudy areas break to a few sunny areas this afternoon, still plenty of
cloud about however. Light winds and afternoon sea breezes.
High: 22

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and some cloud with light winds tending northerly this
afternoon, chance of a light evening shower.
Highs: 22-23

Waikato & Central North Island

Early cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, southerlies ease tending
westerly PM. Cloud increases again towards evening with the chance of a light
shower moving in.
Highs: 23-24

Eastern North Island

Early drizzle clears then morning cloud breaks to afternoon sunny spells,
southerlies tend east to northeast late afternoon.
High: 17

Western North Island

Mostly sunny weather with southeasterly winds, easing in the evening.
Highs: 22-23

Wellington

Cloudy periods with southerly winds, cloud may break to a few sunny areas
in the afternoon.
High: 18

Nelson

Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon, light winds tend
northerly after midday.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough

Cloudy spells break to sunny areas in the afternoon with southerlies
tending easterly.
High: 18

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with gusty east to northeast winds developing near the coast,
winds tend lighter northwest inland about the foothills with warmer
temperatures.

West Coast

Cloudy with northerly winds, the odd drizzle patch from late afternoon
especially about South Westland.

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, breezy northeasterly winds.

Central Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, northwesterly winds. Overnight spots
of rain.

Southland

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, light east to northeast winds. The
odd spot of rain from evening.
