A southwest change makes its way onto the lower South Island this morning then onto the upper South Island later this afternoon or evening. With it comes rain for most regions then easing to showers and clearing as the front moves north. The North Island is mainly dry with rain / showers moving onto the lower North Island later this evening / overnight.

Mostly sunny with southwesterly winds, freshening in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

Auckland

Mostly sunny with southwesterly winds, freshening in the afternoon. A few
showers towards dawn tomorrow.
High: 17

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with westerly winds, freshening this afternoon.
High: 19

Central North Island & Waikato

Sunny spells and westerly winds, freshening this afternoon. Cloud thickens
later in the day then overnight a few showers move in.
High: 17

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds, northwesterlies about the Wairarapa. Some
high cloud moves in later in the day. A southerly wind change later this evening
about the Wairarapa brings showers, cloud pushes further north overnight.
Highs: 19-21

Taranaki

Mostly sunny with westerly winds freshening this afternoon, cloud increases
this evening then overnight rain develops.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island

Sunny spells and increasing cloud with northwesterlies freshening, some
late evening / overnight rain.
High: 16

Wellington

Sunny areas and gusty northwesterlies, a southerly change late evening /
overnight brings rain.
Highs: 15-16

Nelson

Sunny areas and some cloud, cloud thickens later in the day. West to
southwest winds. Rain moves in later in the evening or overnight.
Highs: 18-19

Marlborough

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud with west to northwesterly winds
freshening, a southerly change later this evening brings some rain.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud gradually increasing, north to
northwesterly winds a little gusty inland. A change to southerlies late
afternoon brings rain which clears overnight, rain more so for inland areas with
only scattered showers nearer the coast.

West Coast

Rain about Fiordland pushes north during the day, clearing in behind with a
south to southwest change.
High: 13

Coastal Otago

High cloud at first, a fresh southwest change mid morning brings showers
which clear evening.
Highs: 11-12

Central Otago

High cloud first thing, rain develops late morning as southwesterlies
freshen. Rain eases to showers in the evening then clearing. Snow to 600m for a
time late afternoon / evening then clearing.
Highs: 9-10

Southland

Rain develops this morning with a cold southwest change, easing to showers
this afternoon and clearing by evening. Some snow to 500m.
High: 10
