A front moves over New Zealand from the west today bringing rain to most areas for a time today, rain may be heavy in western areas and possibly about Nelson for a time. North to northeasterly winds strengthen for most then tending northwest later in the day.

Northland
Cloudy with brisk north to northeasterly winds, drizzle patches turn to rain in the afternoon heavy for a time in the evening. Rain clears at night as gusty northerlies change westerly.

Auckland

Cloudy with increasing northeasterlies, rain develops in the afternoon
possibly heavy for a time in the evening then easing overnight with a northwest
change.
High: 17

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with light winds at first, northeasterlies develop from late morning
then increase. Rain moves in late afternoon.
High: 16

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy with northeasterly winds, rain develops late afternoon then becoming
persistent in the evening. Rain eases overnight as winds tend northwest.
Highs: 13-15

Eastern North Island
Thick high cloud with northerly winds, strengthening from afternoon. Spells of rain
develop in the evening then clear overnight.

Taranaki

Cloudy with rain developing in the afternoon, strengthening
northeasterlies. Rain eases around midnight as winds change northwest.

Western North Island

Becoming cloudy in the morning with northerly winds, spells of rain develop
late afternoon then clearing overnight as northerlies change northwest.

Wellington

Cloudy with the odd spot of rain, rain becoming more persistent in the
evneing then clearing around midnight as gusty northerlies tend northwest.

Nelson

Cloudy with strengthening northeasterlies, drizzle patches turn to rain in

Cloudy with strengthening northerlies, odd spot of rain about the Sounds
from morning then late afternoon rain becomes more widespread, rain clears
around midnight. Cloud clears overnight as winds tend northwest.

Cloudy with increasing northeasterlies, spells of rain develop in the
afternoon spreading from the west then clear in the evening as winds tend
northerly.

West Coast

Cloudy with rain about South Westland spreading into North Westland by
midday. Rain heavy at times from afternoon then easing in the evening as breezy
northeasterlies tend northwest.

Coastal Otago

Cloudy with breezy northeasterlies, spells of rain develop in the afternoon
then clear later in the evening with winds easing. Cloud breaks once rain
clears.

Central Otago

Cloudy with brief spells of rain, especially in the west. Northerly winds.
Areas of rain clear in the evening with cloud breaking and winds tending
northwest.

Southland

Cloudy with northeasterlies, odd shower in the west then more widespread
spells of rain from afternoon. Rain clears around midnight as winds tend
northerly, cloud breaks too.
