A front moves over the country today from west to east, with it comes rain heavy in some western areas. Eastern districts get lighter rainfall but there should be some none the less.

Auckland & Northland
Cloudy with a few showers then rain this afternoon, northerlies. Rain clears at night with a westerly change.
Highs: 20-21
Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Cloudy with the odd shower moving in this morning. Rain from afternoon then clearing overnight with a westerly change, rain may be heavy in the afternoon
about the Waikato and west of Lake Taupo. Northeasterlies.
Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island

Thickening high cloud with increasing northerlies, a few spits of rain move
in during the afternoon then expect more persistent rain in the evening.
Highs: 19-20

Western North Island

Cloudy with northerly winds, showers towards midday then expect afternoon
rain. Rain clears later in the evening. About northern Taranaki there may be
heavy falls.
Highs: 18-19

Wellington

Cloudy with showers developing towards midday, afternoon rain then clearing
overnight. Strong northerlies.
High: 16

Nelson

Cloudy with rain developing this morning, a few heavy falls about then
easing late afternoon. Brisk to strong northerlies.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough

Cloudy with some rain developing later this morning, possibly heavy for a
time PM then clearing by evening. Increasing northerlies, strong at times late
morning onwards then tending northwest later in the day.
Highs: 17-18

Canterbury

Cloudy with a few spells of rain, clearing early afternoon then sunny areas
developing. North to northeast winds ease later in the day.
High: 18-19

West Coast

Rain, heavy at times with a chance of thunderstorms. Brisk northerly
quarter winds.
High: 16-17

Coastal Otago

Areas of rain clear by midday, becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon.
Northeasterly winds ease later in the day.
Highs: 16-17

Central Otago

Rain clearing around midday, becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. From
evening the odd shower may spread into far western areas of the district
(Southern Lakes area). Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Southland

Periods of rain clear around midday then sunny spells increase,
northeasterlies tend northwest later in the evening.
Highs: 17-18
