Tropical Low June starts to make more of an impact on the North Island today, rain will develop in the far north early this morning and reach the lower North Island later this evening. The South Island sees some drizzle possible in the east, mainly later in the day. The best weather looks to be south of Hokitika on the West Coast after midday and about Central Otago.

Auckland & Northland
Cloudy with the odd spit about Auckland then periods of rain from late
morning onwards, humid with easterly breezes. Areas of rain moves into Northland
early this morning with brisk east to northeast winds, rain may be heavy at
times, especially in the east.

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of
Plenty

Cloudy with rain developing around midday, easterly winds from afternoon.
Rain may be heavy at times about the Bay Of Plenty later today.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy skies, north to northwest breezes ease during the morning.
Rain moves into Gisborne and Hawkes Bay in the afternoon then further south
later in the evening, easterly winds gradually pick up from midday.
Highs: 23-24

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy with northwesterlies gradually easing, rain develops late
afternoon about Taranaki and later in the evening or overnight further south as
winds tend southeasterly.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington

Cloudy with northerlies easing around midday, the odd spit possible at
times from midday otherwise rain moves in overnight with southeasterlies.
High: 19

Nelson

Mostly cloudy skies with northerly breezes, the odd shower possible at
times from midday. Rain develops overnight.
Highs: 21-22

Marlborough

Cloudy with northerlies easing this morning, the odd shower from afternoon.
Winds tend southeasterly overnight with rain.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy skies, the odd drizzle patch possible at times from midday as
winds tend easterly otherwise mainly dry. Drizzle more likely later in the
evening or overnight, especially about the foothills.
High: 17-18

West Coast

Rain easing this morning and clearing by midday, a few afternoon sunny
spells with west to southwest breezes. Rain hangs about Buller for much of the
day with northerlies.
High: 18

Coastal Otago

Becoming mostly sunny this morning with light winds, some cloud increases
from afternoon as winds tend easterly. Chance of an evening drizzle patch.
High: 18

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with south to southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 23-24

Southland

Chance early showers otherwise expect sunny spells with westerly breezes,
winds tend a little more southwest mid afternoon.
High: 16
