A front works its way over the South Island this evening then onto the North Island overnight, preceding the front is gusty north to northwesterly winds then changing westerly behind. Expect rain in the west, only brief falls spread eastwards.

Auckland & Northland
Clear spells with west to northwest winds, chance of a shower or two. Cloud thickens overnight.

Bay Of Plenty

Clear spells with west to northwest winds, cloud thickens overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Central North Island & Waikato

Cloudy spells with northwesterly winds, the odd shower possible then some
rain towards dawn tomorrow.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-10

Eastern North Island

Clear spells, high cloud thickening overnight with northerly winds
freshening. A few spells of rain spread into the Wairarapa overnight and perhaps
into Hawkes Bay by dawn.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Taranaki

Periods of cloud with the odd shower and northwesterly winds, rain moves in
overnight with heavy falls possible. Winds change gusty westerly by dawn
tomorrow with rain easing back to showers.

Western North Island

Periods of cloud with northwesterly winds, the odd shower possible.
Overnight some rain moves in.
Tonight’s Low: 9

Wellington

Gusty northwesterlies with cloud increasing this evening, a few spells of
rain move through later this evening / overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Nelson

Cloud increasing this evening with rain moving in later, rain clears
overnight as NNW winds change westerly.
Tonight’s Low: 7

Marlborough

High cloud thickens this evening with gusty northwesterlies, a few spells
of rain early on overnight then clearing.
Tonight’s Low: 7

Canterbury

Thick high cloud, a few spells of rain possible this evening then clearing
overnight as northeasterlies tend northwest.
Tonight’s Lows: 4

West Coast

Rain with heavy falls easing to showers during this evening,
northwesterlies tend westerly as rain eases. Overnight heavy showers and
thunderstorms move into Fiordland / South Westland.
Tonight’s Low: 6

Coastal Otago

Showers this evening then mostly clearing later, the odd one may remain
overnight. Northeasterlies ease.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-6

Central Otago

Areas of rain or showers clearing this evening, clear spells overnight.
Light northerlies.

Showers clearing this evening then expect a mix of clear and cloudy spells,
light northerlies.
