Cold southwesterlies ease over the country tonight with frosts developing for many areas as a ridge moves over extending out from an anticyclone in the Tasman Sea. Showers clearing for most although a few may hang about the Gisborne area.

Auckland & Northland
Remaining showers clear this evening with skies becoming clear overnight, cold southwesterlies tend more southerly this evening then ease. Chance of a light frost in sheltered areas.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Any remaining showers clear this evening then skies becoming clear, cold
south to southwesterly winds ease overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: -3-3

Eastern North Island

Any remaining showers mostly clearing this evening although the odd one may
hang about the Gisborne area. Cold southwesterlies ease overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 1-3

Western North Island

Mainly clear skies with south to southwesterly winds easing and dying out
overnight. Southeasterlies may continue to puff through about Taranaki
overnight.

Wellington

Cloudy periods with wintry showers and snow flurries to 400m clearing by
midnight. Cold southerlies ease overnight with cloud breaking.

Clear skies with southwesterlies dying out tonight.

Marlborough

Clear skies with southwesterlies dying out tonight, a few wintry showers
and snow flurries to 400m clear about southern Marlborough this evening.

Mainly clear skies inland, wintry showers with snow flurries to 200m
clearing this evening about Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. Clear skies
overnight with southwesterlies dying out, becoming frosty.

West Coast

Clear skies with southerlies dying out this evening, frosty tonight
especially inland.

Coastal Otago

Wintry showers with snow flurries to low levels (100 to 200m) clearing this
evening, cloud breaking overnight with cold west to southwesterly winds
easing.
Tonight’s Low: 1

Central Otago 

Any remaining snow showers clearing this evening with skies becoming clear.
Southwesterlies die out, frosty tonight.
Tonight’s Lows: -8- -11

Southland

The odd shower clearing this evening, westerly winds ease with clear spells
overnight
