A northwesterly airflow lies over the country tonight while a frontal system works its way onto the lower South Island this evening then further north overnight. Eastern regions are generally the driest while out west expect the odd shower about, rain for the West Coast of the South Island.

Northland
A period of cloud this evening with the odd shower possible, any of which clear by midnight. Light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-10

Auckland

A period of cloud this evening with the odd shower possible, any of which clear overnight. Westerlies.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy spells with the odd light shower, mainly west of Lake Taupo. Any
showers about the Waikato mostly clearing this evening. Clear spells for the Bay
Of Plenty with the odd shower possible othewise dry, light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-10

Eastern North Island

Clear skies with northwesterlies easing this evening, some high cloud
possible about Wairarapa overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Western North Island

Cloudy periods with the odd shower, clearing overnight for most although
the odd shower remains about northern Taranaki. Northwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Wellington

Periods of cloud with northwesterly winds, showers towards dawn.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Nelson

Clear spells and increasing cloud with northwesterlies, rain moves in
towards dawn.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Marlborough

Clear skies with some high cloud overnight, northwesterlies ease this
evening.
Tonight’s Low: 6

Canterbury
Areas of
high cloud with light winds near the coast and north to northwesterly winds
inland, showers move in south of Banks Peninsula overnight with a southerly wind
change.

Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

West Coast

Rain about Fiordland spreads north this evening, a few heavy falls
possible. Rain eases to showers overnight with northerlies changing
southwest.
Tonight’s Low: 8

Coastal Otago

Showers, some may be heavy this evening then easing again overnight. Light
winds tend southwest around midnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 8

Central Otago

Showers with westerly winds changing southerly overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 5

Southland

Showers with westerlies changing southerly this evening.
Tonight’s Low: 7
